When launching the Genie module, the error "Launch 8000:ffff method ~ of object ~ failed" may be experienced. This error message will prevent the Genie module from launching in Noah 3.0. There are three things to examine in order to resolve this problem. The first is to ensure that the computer (or computers if running on a network) are running behind a firewall and /or a router. Your local IT administrator should be able to check this for you if you are unsure. The second thing to check is to see if there is adware/spyware running on your computer. A tool such as spybot ( http://www.safer-networking.org/) can be used to scan your system for adware/spyware. Once both of these things have been done, and if the problem persists, you should ensure that you are running Noah version 3.1.2 or higher. If an update is needed, they can be downloaded from the HIMSA website (www.himsa.com). Please note that for networked systems, the update must be installed on ALL systems on the network. If none of these solutions are effective, please contact IT support for further assistance.

I had another call with this issue today.  Windows XP, Noah 3.1.2 and Genie 5.0.  If none of David's suggestions work, it seems that the only solution is to reinstall Windows. Dead

One other option to try, before reinstalling Windows, is to fully delete Genie from your system and then do a 'clean' installation. You can do this by first removing Genie through the add/delete programs function in your control panel. Please also remove the Genie Information Update program as well. Once this has been done, it is necessary to manually delete the Oticon folder. This can be found in C:/program files/oticon. Once this has been deleted, reboot your computer and then proceed with a fresh installation of Genie.
